Overexpression and Knockdown Cell Lines

Using our lentiviral technology, we can generate several types of stable expression cell lines using GFP, RFP, Puro, Bleo, or other markers, and optionally use tet-inducible expression. The service covers some "exotic" cell lines as well as the more common cell lines. Cells that are difficult to grow, such as primary cells, will require additional cost and time. We typically deliver uncloned populations of cells in 1.5-2 months at prices ranging from $15,000 to $40,000, and clonal cell lines in 3-4 months at prices ranging from $25,000 to $50,000*. In comparison, some other lentiviral stable cell line service providers charge up to $80,000 per cell line.

The benefits of using lentiviral technology over traditional methods for stable cell line generation are listed below.

  • Any cell type can be used, including cells that are difficult to transfect
  • An unlimited number of stable clones can be generated, so you have the freedom to choose the best producers or reporter cell lines by FACS
  • It is the only way to generate overproducer cell lines (for recombinant proteins) with multiple integrated expression constructs of transgene

Overexpression (cDNA) cell lines

We clone a gene of your choice (up to a 3kb ORF) into a lentiviral vector, and transduce the cell line of your choice to create a stable cell line which overexpresses the gene. The service includes sequence confirmation and Western blot analysis (or biological activity). Prices range from $30,000 to $40,000 for uncloned, and $40,000 to $50,000 for clonal cell lines*.

Knockdown (shRNA) cell lines

Just choose the gene you want to suppress, your cell line, and a selection marker, and we can produce a stable knockdown cell line. We provide the shRNA design, cloning into the lentiviral vector of your choice, and verification of knockdown. Prices range from $15,000 to $25,000 for uncloned, and $25,000 to $35,000 for clonal cell lines*.

* Prices depend on a number of factors, such as cell type, vector, tet-regulation, selection marker, size of insert, etc. At least 3 x 10^6 cells will be delivered.
